Take a line for a walk – Wajid Hussain

Macro and NeuroGraphic

Media used: watercolours, inks, bilingual words and photography.

This opportunity to study and explore macro photography and artwork through quarantine has produced some interesting visual art and looked at the by-products of the artwork as well. Pieces, when viewed, have their sense of identity, beauty and depiction of purpose. As an artist and poet, I have had the opportunity to study and explore a macro form of my artistic development.

The artwork created has been on a macro scale. Creating small pieces due to quarantine and other restrictions led to exploring small scale work and macro photography.

Urdu-English Words.
The Urdu words combined with English has been an interesting challenge seeking an equilibrium of meaning beyond the surface. Words having different weight and resonance and so combining them with purpose was a creative challenge.

Neurographic Line Art.
I explored line art when searching and coming across neurographic art. A style that lends itself to the ‘Take a line for a walk’ activity that I deliver during my own workshops. This was an interesting exploration combining colour pencils, watercolours and ink.

Poetry.
As well as writing longer pieces, I used the short form of Haiku for art pieces using line art.
